June was an impressive meeting. Thanks to fine weather, BBQ Night and the theme contest, we had 22 members and no guests who brought in 26 models which includes 19 for the Asian Invasion

June Meeting

ASIAN INVASION THEME CONTEST: It finally arrived! We had 19 fine entries for this theme reflecting the wide range of interests of the group. The winners were:

1st         Tomasz Kalata             Komatsu G40
2nd        Bobby Pokorny          MS-06F Desert Zaku
3rd        Joe Bergman                Samurai Warrior
HM
            Frank Colucci             J-11B
            Bob Epley                   King Ghidorah
            Ed Johnson                  Ki27 Nate
            Ray Whitton               North American
                                                AT-6 Texan

Jeff and Gordon were pleased with the turn out and had their work cut out for them with the judging. Thanks to everyone who entered the theme contest! Thank you to the sponsors for giving this fun and challenging theme to build for.

*NOTE: Any new model built for this theme can be brought back for the Quarterly Contest in August.

BarBeQue NIGHT: It’s summertime! What says summer more than a bbq? We had food and fun a-plenty! It ended up only $7 per person for food and there was plenty of it. Thanks to our grill-masters Vinny and Don, and thank to all the members who contributed food, desserts and refreshments for the night.

TROOP SUPPORT: With Hugh in retirement Jimmy Tissot volunteered to take over the role as Wounded Warrior Project liaison. He’s gotten reports regarding what models and supplies would be most useful. He was recently advised of a hub to ship to closer to home, so that’s good. As always, donations of any models and supplies are welcome.

RAFFLE: We had a monthly raffle with an assortment of items. We may have another next month depending on time.

PHOTO ROSTER: Hugh can provide the files and write up the process I use in PowerPoint and PhotoManager to put the pages together. Can anyone take this job over? Hello? Anyone? Contact Bobby or Jeff at the meeting.

On the agenda: July

PUTTYING TECHNIQUES: Everyone has a different ways of taking on the challenges of challenges of seam-lines on their models. Our panel of Frank Colucci, Ed Johnson and your humble narrator will share their tips and tricks when dealing a pesky seam. Feel free to share a few words with the group as well! Bring in supplies to show, too!
