Region 1 Short Update: 01/21/2006
Hi everyone,
This will be short and to the point. (That's a switch!!)
In an effort to ensure the best possible lines of communications between IPMS and the chapters, the RC's have been asked to update all contact information for their chapters. Please check the following, and get the corrected information back to me as quickly as you can:
- Verify name of chapter contact as it appears on the Chapter Listings pages of the IPMS/USA web site
- Verify meeting info for accuracy
- Verify web site URL as up to date (actually test the link to make sure it works)
- Check the club name and city for spelling and accuracy
- Get the phone number of the chapter contact (not work number) and barring that get the phone number of at least one club officer starting with the highest ranking. (Just a single phone will do....not asking for every phone number of every officer.)
- Provide current e mail addresses for the current chapter contact as well as chapter President. Thanks in advance for your efforts.
On a personal note, I had my wrist surgery this past Monday, and had a follow up visit to the Doctor yesterday. He said my wrist is healing very nicely, and gave me ten more days to recover. He also said that modeling is great therapy, and I should do as much as I can stand to aid in regaining mobility and dexterity in the wrist. I think I can do that!!!!
Noreastcon is rapidly approaching!!! I'll be urging all Region 1 chapters to again sponsor a category for our hosts. The web site for information is active and has all the info you'll need to attend, make hotel reservations, sponsor a category, and so on. The URL is:
With that, this is a done deal.

THEMES FOR 2006
Worn, Weathered, & Working Theme. Hugh, Frank C. and Frank T. offered to sponsor a theme contest that commemorates the works of the late Captain Bart Holmes, items that show the rigors and abuses of regular (and not so regular) service. This can easily be applied to all aspects of modeling. Details will be forthcoming.

Who will sponsor the December theme contest in 2006? Let’s wait and see!
January Bulletin
November and December meetings were two great meetings to finish off the year. Both months brought us a full house of people.
NOVEMBER MEETING!!!
Super Raffle: As usual the Super Raffle was a blast. The model count for the year was under 200 and we had more than 100 prizes. Pretty good odds, eh? We might have to reduce the number of prizes unless people start pumping out more work.
Contest Night – 4th Qtr: This was the final installment of the annual contest so it was the last chance to rack up votes in the various categories.
DECEMBER MEETING!!!
DECEMBER MEETING was on December 9th….
HOLIDAY DINNER was on December 9th in-house. The BBSC was used by another group on our usual night so we pushed it up a week. To everyone who pitched in to help in any way, we’d like to offer an extra special THANK YOU! And thanks to everyone who came and made the 2005 Holiday Dinner a warm and special night for all!
CATS!: Sponsored by Adrian, Russ, and Jeff. We had quite an incredible turnout for this one. And the winners are listed HERE and Gordon has pics HERE.
AWARDS CEREMONY: It was a good year for competition. Here are your winners:

MODEL OF THE YEAR COMPETITION: This is the final throw down to see who reigns supreme in each category. The three models with the highest vote counts by different modelers gets to compete. It's a one time contest that will be taking place during the January, 2006 meeting that the members vote on. Here’s the list:

Region One Update, January 15, 2006
Greetings,
Semper Fi
Doug
I hope everyone survived the New Year and holidays fairly intact!! Now back to our regularly scheduled programming!!
The latest IPMS news is the welcoming of John Vanek as the new Region 6 Coordinator, Welcome John!! (He gets this too!!!) John is replacing Dick Montgomery, who is moving into the DLC seat on 1 Feb. There is some other stuff on the horizon that I'm sure will excite you, or at least pique your interest a little, and I'll be passing along more as it becomes official.
Rechartering is nearly complete for Region 1. There are a few chapters that are still in the process of rechartering. (And you know who you are darlings!!!) We should be 100% shortly. Thanks to all the chapters that got their material back on time this year. It's greatly appreciated.
I'm scheduled for surgery on my right wrist tomorrow, and please hold the jokes. I've heard them all, and started a few new ones in the process!! I should be out of action for only a few days, and will let everyone know when I'm back. The hardest part of getting cut will be the recovery time I'll have to be away from my bench. I have some pretty cool stuff working but will obey the doctors instructions regarding therapy and getting back to work. My wife said she'll be keeping her eye on me to make sure I don't sneak into the shop. I wonder why she had to say that?
I'll end this by saying that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. And as always, please share this with the officers and members of your chapter.
