After the cancellation of the November meeting, December went on without a hitch. We had 31 members and one guest who brought in 17 models, largely for the final contest of 2012.

December Meeting
NOVEMBER WITHIN DECEMBER: In a nutshell, we shifted the events for the November meeting to December.

CONTEST NIGHT 4Q12: As the FINAL BPMS Quarterly Contest for 2012 it was members’ last chance to rake in some votes. At the time this is being written the numbers have been crunched and we’ll announce the winners in JANUARY.

HOLIDAY DESSERTS: We can always count on the guys to make a good time, and the desserts made for a delicious time! Thanks to all the members who contributed!

SUPER RAFFLE: The prolific members are rewarded for their hard work! For each model you brought in you were entitled to ONE Super Raffle ticket. If you completed your pledge, you get an additional FIVE tickets! We handed out 275 raffle tickets that night, coupled with approximately 100 prizes and that meant GOOD TIMES! Our big builder of the year was Joe Bergman with 38 for the year. Impressive numbers!

On the agenda: JANUARY
NEW REGIME: Time flies! It seems like yesterday that Don and Charlie took the seats up front, now they hand the reigns over to our new president Ray W. and his Vice-President Gordon.

AWARDS CEREMONY: The numbers from the annual contest have been crunched. With any luck I’ll be able to print out the certificates and have a proper awards ceremony. In the worst case scenario we will still announce the winners and have the awards in February.

THE END OF THE WORLD: By now we all know that the world didn’t end on December 21st, but that’s not going to stop the theme contest! Details below.

JANUARY SUPER RAFFLE: January won’t only bring the END OF THE WORLD, but we’re also going to have a “January Super Raffle!” Not to be confused with the Super raffle that we conduct every year in November, the January Super raffle will cost $5 / ticket. Each will be a shot at winning one of the following models:
  • Trumpeter 1/32 Mig-21 UM two seater with extra Verlinden detail set. Joe B
  • Trumpeter 1/350 JMDF DDG-173 Kongo Jeff E
  • Dragon 1/35 Jagdpanzer IV/70 (A) with added metal gun barrel and resin zimmeret detail set Ray K
  • Polar Lights 1/350 NX-01 Enterprise Ray K.
Thanks for the donations: Joe B, Ray K, and Jeff.

2013 MODEL PLEDGE: Looks like we got this working right now! Bring in an unbuilt model between January and March 2013 to declare as your pledge model. Please have it finished for OCTOBER 2013, for a display. After October you may bring back your pledge for the November meeting for the last contest of the year. For your efforts you get an additional FIVE Super Raffle tickets for completing your pledge! Sweet! Easy enough!

PHOTO ROSTER UPDATE: Hugh will soon begin an update of the photo roster. If you're e-mail or phone number has changed in the past year, please send Hugh a correction at shuvlboy [at] gmail [dot] com. (Note: It's a given that your face has changed since the last photo roster, but as aging is usually not a positive thing, charity demands that we not require a new photo.) Members occasionally change their e-mail addresses. If you're not getting a reply to an e-mail, it may be that you are using an old address. The photo roster has the e-mails that are current at the time the roster was produced, so you may want to check the roster and/or get a copy of the latest roster.

The End Of The World Theme Contest
January 18, 2013

IT’S HERE!!!

We happened to have a club meeting on the date that many were saying could’ve been the end of days. What better way to see the world go out with a theme contest marking THE END OF THE WORLD?!?!

AIM: Build something that can be tied into THE END OF THE WORLD in some way, shape, or form. That easy! The contest form will ask you to explain HOW your model connects with this theme.

Examples: Martian War Machine, Space Shuttle from Armageddon, a nuclear missile, a zombie, etc, etc. If you can rationally tie it in to the theme, you’re good to go!

We are planning on some special certificates for depicting the following catastrophic events:
• Land
• Air
• Sea
Contest Sponsors:
  • Jeff
  • Russ
  • Bobby
Easy enough! Come to us with any questions. Build something and have fun!

Meeting date: January 18, 2013
Same time, Same Place
