10/29/2020 BPMS Zoom mini meeting report

Sixteen people attended the meeting. For some reason, one person couldn't be re admitted to the second session. Did someone annoy Cthulhu? The meeting started with the status of model shows. Northestcon could be moved to May or October. The Hudson Valley Show could be moved to the last week in October. On the bright side, we heard that shows are being held in New Hampshire. Closer to home but not specifically model related, the spy museum in Manhattan has a good 007 display. If you need a pandemic souvenir, consider the "I wasn't there in 2020" convention tee shirt from AMPS. We heard of one new release, a 1/144 B52H from Lion's Roar and saw a new acquisition, Tamiya's 1/35 Marder 1( Lorraine chassis). In progress and completed work included: F4 in Greek markings, F 106, FW 189, FW 190, Stratocruser, Defiant target tug, Panther A, 96 (or 97) Ford Crown Victoria and MiG 15. Following up on the last meeting, we had a demonstration of the DSPIAE circle cutter and a discussion on electronic cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette Cameo. We'll have more tool demonstrations in the coming weeks. the meting ended with a lengthy session of airbrushes. Despite its age, the Pasche H is still the go to airbrush for many because it's easy to maintain and replacement parts are widely available. We also talked about Badger, Grex, Iwata and Iwata knock offs. We closed with airbrush related topics: 15 -20 psi recommended for most jobs, compressors with 1.5 gal. tanks are useful and the importance of taking all safety precautions when using cleaning solvents with hazardous components. Next meeting is Nov 5 at 8 pm. invites to follow. Hope to see you there.
