5/24/22 BPMS Zoom mini-meeting

Eleven people attended the meeting. Fleet Week has returned to New York. Today's Parade of Ships includes US Navy, Coast Guard, Naval Academy and Royal Navy vessels. Ship tours run from tomorrow through Monday. Special events will be held every day. Details are available on-line.
Several new releases were reported, AMT's 1/35 1953 Ford pickup with die-cast Coca-Cola vending machine, MRC/Gallery's 1/16 Panzer 3 J/L and Atlantis' Curtiss Jenny JN4. In progress and completed work included: Corsair, Su-27, Phantom RF-4, Bf-109, Praetorian Guard figure, M1-A1 Abrams, Dragon, Porsche 365 Speedster and a reworked Sd. Kfz.250/9 (see Michael's igluemadels blog for details). This week's tool was the "HM 160 Modular Wash Free" airbrush from the Robot Kai website. It's inexpensive, has an unusual nozzle arrangement and is good for spraying primer. I'm sure Gil will tell us more about it later. The featured topic was glue. Seems like everyone has a favorite. MEK, Pro-Weld, Tamiya liquid cement (standard and extra thin), generic super glue in little tubes, Plasti- Zap, Gorilla Glue(original [be advised-it expands after placement], superglue, epoxy), Gator Glue, Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner, Loctite superglue, proprietary canopy glue, GS Hypo Cement (For our younger members, it's used to secure watch crystals on pre digital wristwatches), two-part epoxies, plumbers' epoxy, UV cured glue, proprietary liquid glue in needle applicator bottles, tacky glue and, of course, good old tube glue.  Wow, thats a lot of information from only eleven guys. Next meeting is Tuesday 5/31/22 at 7:30 pm. Invites to follow. Remember Memorial Day and stay safe.
