August 2nd, 2022 BPMS Zoom Mini Meeting Report

Gil's 7/30/22 cookout was well organized and well attended. Twenty people from area clubs and BPMS were there to talk about the hobby, eat, see Gil's workshop, eat, see vintage cars and generally enjoy an in-person event. Many thanks to Gil and his family for their hospitality.

Seventeen people attended the Tuesday meeting. Frank shared photos of the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT. Impressive collection. Field trip, maybe? We're looking at a place in Brooklyn, Buckley's, for our 50th Anniversary Dinner. You'll get a separate email with details. In industry news, the price of Testors Dullcote and Glosscote spray cans will go up by $2.00. New releases in1/35: Stug 4, early and late versions and M4 A3 Easy Eight from Rye Field and T-90 with interior from Amusing Hobby. Revell Germany has what appears to be a new F-15 Strike eagle in 1/72. In progress and completed work included: Ventura, FW-190, P-51, James Dean bust, P-26 ("a Dullcote disaster", says Mr. K), two identical C-47s ("a coincidence" says Mr. K), Royal Navy lifeboat, Hurricane (Portuguese AF markings), Buccaneer, F-15, Huey (from Metal Works, not Metal Earth) and Black Falcon.  Acquisitions included: Vladislav the Poker (from What We Do in the Shadows), M-4 Sherman and Revell's Top Gun Maverick Set (with what appear to be new F-14 and F-18 kits). The featured tool was the #22 Xacto blade. The curved edge lets you cut away from you and follow curves easily. The discussion topic was magazines. Everyone has their favorites. Many are no longer in print but the names are here in case you want to follow up: Air Enthusiast, Air International, American Aviation Historical Society Journal, Wings and Airpower, Flight Journal, Military Miniatures in Review, Air Modeler, Finescale Modeler, IPMS Journal, Starship Modeler, Amazing Figure Modeler, SciFi Scale, Fantasy Figures International, Modelers Resource. Think of it as a good news, bad news situation. Bad news, less printed material available, good news less printed matter to store. Next meeting is 8/9/22 at 7:30 pm. Invites to follow. Hope to see you there.
