Seventeen people attended the meeting. In Club news, our charter has been renewed. In industry news, two new releases were reported, a Panzer 3N from Takom and a MiG 29 from some other company. As for in progress and completed work, we saw The Invisible Man (sorry, couldn't resist), Jekyll/Hyde, Lancaster, F 117, MiG 15, P 40 E, B 36 and a 3D printed Mandalorian. Acquisitions included an 8/1 scale human tooth (with interior), Si 204, Taurus SHO and the Wappen Von Hamburg. We heard that two of our local hobby shops, Rudy's in Astoria and Brownie's in Staten Island, are still open. Check the hours before you go. The tool demonstrated this week was Infini's Easycutting Matte. A simple idea but very useful to quickly cut masking tape into straight or curved strips, or other complex shapes. Thanks, Gil. The featured topic, assembly/painting sequences for tracked vehicles was illustrated with photos and live shots. Masking road wheels, with either kit-specific aftermarket masks or a circle template, produces good results and makes painting less tedious. Tracks, particularly multi part, individual, nonworkable links can be tedious, too. Workable tracks in metal, resin or plastic, cost extra but greatly simplify track installation and hey, how much is your time worth? We didn't forget about vinyl tracks and discussed various ways to join and install them. Thanks, Tom and Jimmy. In the last minute (literally) of the meeting we saw the first photo of a quick build contest the Hudson Valley Club organized for Thanksgiving. Thanks, Mark. Nineteen people attended the meeting. Just one new release reported, a MiG 21PF in 1/72 by Eduard. In progress and completed work included: Saab 29 Tunnan, El Camino with trail bike, VW Baja Bug, Offshore oil platform, Creature from the Black lagoon, General Zod and Ursa, MK 3 Crusader, B36 (1/144), Prowler(1/144), T 55 Enigma. New acquisitions included: USN Cleveland, H34 Choctaw, JU 126-127. We had a full agenda, starting with a step-by-step description of the casting process, including casting bed fabrication, materials used, effect of temperature and humidity, mold release agents, minimizing air bubbles (in case you don't have a vacuum chamber or pressure pot). Thanks, William and thanks to the other guys who shared their considerable experience in casting. We also talked about brush painting. What's best, synthetic or natural hair? What are the advantages of the different shapes? What's the best way to clean a brush? Notice I'm not giving you the answers. That's not to be a wise guy, it's to encourage meeting attendance. Twenty people attended the meeting. No new kit releases reported this week.
IPMS/BPMS MEMBERS ONLY: The charter is up for renewal. Please provide your membership # and expiration date to Frank C as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
Also, BPMS was asked about sponsoring a trophy package for the 2021 Nationals (assuming they are held). Votes will be taken at a future meeting. We had an update on the Community Center. The building and the grounds remain closed and are likely to remain that way into the start of 2021. That led to a discussion on the Christmas lunch and it looks like that'll be postponed too, unless someone can find a restaurant that can accommodate us. Any thoughts?
There was a lot of in progress and completed work: Panther A, Cthulhu, steampunk fish submarine, EA 6 Prowler, F 117, Nosferatu, Celtic noble, Crown Victoria, FW 190, P 40, MiG 15, El Camino, DH 88 Comet, Yak 55, the Hulk, Stug 4, Brumbar, Opel Blitz, Stalin tank. We saw a demonstration of the Dspiae ball bearing pin vice, pricey maybe, but comfortable to use and inexpensive bits are readily available. We also had a well-illustrated talk on "Liquid Gravity" including tools and techniques needed to get it to stay where you want it. Hopefully we'll have more demonstrations at the next meeting which is Nov. 19 at 8 pm. Invites to follow. Hope to see you there.

Ten people attended the meeting. While there wasn't much industry news (one new release, the Discovery from Space Odyssey) we saw a lot of in progress and completed work including: El Camino, Stratocruser, Boultan Paul Defiant target tug, Tu 16 Badger, FW Ta 283, Jagdpanther (with paper zimmerit), Panther A (with decal zimmerit), Creature from the Black Lagoon, Gill Woman, and "Buddy Cthulhu". We had a wide ranging discussion - using a UV light designed to dry nail polish for curing paint, plastic canopy masks vs. paper/tape masks, wheel masks made with a circle compass, another tool (details needed) to cut thin circles for masks, removing dust from models with a 50/50 mix of Murphy's Oil Soap and water, Vallejo premium acrylics, Liquid Gravity, lead putty, dealing with Ali Express and, as an unexpected bonus, informative Q&A sessions on 3D printing and creating photo etch items. Thirteen people attended the meeting. Having a moderator kept things moving along. Maybe that's why Zoom didn't terminate the meeting after 40 minutes? [We still need to smooth out some of the rough edges, but it was a solid meeting with good and educational content. New Meeting Format:

We've been holding weekly Zoom meetings for seven months and it's safe to say we know how Zoom works. It's also safe to say a simple Agenda would make the meeting move more smoothly, eliminating dead air and cross talk. So here it is:
Item 1- Club and Industry News (10 min) Talk about other clubs, new releases, status of shops and on-line vendors.
Item 2- Individual Updates (20 min) Moderator calls on each person and gives them a minute, if they want it, to discuss what they're working on. Feel free to ask questions, but don't change the topic. Think of it as the "talk about your model" part of the meeting.
Item 3 - Open Discussion (50 min) Talk about techniques or equipment, share photos of contests, museums or your favorite model or share your knowledge in a clinic.
As for last week's meeting, fourteen people attended. In progress and completed work included: Tu 16, F4, MiG 21, F 22, F 35, Panther A, T55, Nuclear Powered Flying Wing, Lenticular Reentry Vehicle, Ka 25. New acquisitions included: Bell X22, Hiller X18, 67 Impala, 77 Monaco with Joker figure and another Cthulhu. We saw an impressive (1/6 scale?) 3D modeling project, Ray Harry Harryhausen, in his studio, filming some of his creatures with other creatures scattered around the room. Nice work, David. Nineteen people attended the meeting. Some good news, Rudy's, in Astotria, is open again. Hours can vary. Check before you go. We saw a wide range of in progress and completed work: General Zod, Dracula, Quasimodo, Medusa, Corvette, Bronco, Moon Ship (aka Lunar Lander), P40 and Chezk crop duster. We saw newly acquired kits and tools: Ju EF 126, F 4e, Challenger 2, Ball Tank, He 70, FW 189, Rabelo (aka Portuguese wine boat), eyeglass mounted headlamp, and micro tweezer set. We discussed equipment - at least one guy still has a Mattel Vac-u-form - materials - 3D printed resin parts, electrically conductive paint- and fabrication - making metal parts to replace warped resin ones. We'd be remiss not to thank the family of an old member, Don B, for donating his unbuilt kits to BPMS. Thanks as well to the guys who picked up the kits. Next meeting is October 8 at 8 pm. Fifteen people attended the meeting. If the Terminator, Aston Martin DB 5 and the other subscription models you've seen didn't impress you, maybe the1/200 scale Bismarck we heard about - die cast hull, interiors, lighting , sounds and moving parts - will. All you need is time, money and display space. Speaking of display, we saw a lot of completed and in progress work: F16I, Hurricane family, KA25, Mil 1, resin and 3D printed Cthulhus, Tu 95, Digno (with Gurkha), KV 85, Shermans (cast and welded hulls), CV 35, Flakpanzer, USS Louisiana, USS Massachusetts. We also discussed lighting sets, wire wheels and foam holders for boat hulls, car bodies and paint bottles. Next meeting is October 1 at 8 pm. Invites to follow. Assuming we have prizes, there will be a raffle . That's to remind you donations are always welcome. See you Thursday.

In progress and completed work included: F 16I, Panther A, T 34 (the one with wings, not the one with tracks), Cessna Bird dog w floats, 58 Edsel, single seat and two seat Hurricanes. Members report good results ordering from Lucky Models, Hobby Easy and Scale Hobbyist. We discussed preparing photo etch for painting, how ammonia and acetone will damage your airbrush, good primers (Gunzie v Tamiya), model paint availability and, for a change of pace, home renovations.
