Loss of a member: Art Gerber

On Sept. 12, 2007 Art Gerber, a former president of BPMS, passed away unexpectedly. Art discovered BPMS when he attended Big Apple Con, a convention we held in the mid-seventies. Art joined BPMS and began to make the trip from his home state of New Jersey to attend our meetings in Brooklyn. Art soon became a valued member of the club and served a term as President in 1980. Some years later, Art joined fellow modelers in his home state, but maintained his connections to BPMS.

Over the years Art's modeling skills constantly grew until he became one of the premier armor and vehicle builders in the hobby. He was especially known for his small scale scratch built models with realistic weathering. Those of us who attended IPMS conventions were always pleased to meet and greet Art and his wife Carolyn at Region I, Region II, and National conventions. At the awards ceremonies of those conventions Art's name was always prominent among the winners. BPMS extends its condolences to Carolyn Gerber.
