01/28/2021 BPMS Zoom mini meeting report

Eighteen people attended the meeting. In what's old news by now, Squadron filed for bankruptcy. Frank C has their Declaration to prove it. In progress and completed work included: Mirage 3E, Terminator, Sikorski S 61, yacht America, JAS 39 Gripen, Panzer 3, Golden Hind, Mars Liner (Disneyland), Space VTOL (Ultraman), Naboo Cruiser (Star Wars), two Me 262 conversions, Bf (or is it Me?) 109, MiG 3, MiG 29 (with 3D printed cockpit details), 3D printed Mandalorian (cost =$5.00) and 3D printed Kraken (cost= more than $5.00. Much more). Norton Commando 750 and Northrup P 61 were the only acquisitions reported. Are we ordering less after taking inventory? Speaking of inventory, there were so many modeling issues that we didn't have time for the featured topic, inventory. We'll get to it one day. Here's a quick rundown of the issues discussed:

  1. O rings can be used as internal bracing on multi part cylindrical models like the Mars Liner. They're also good for masking bombs. drop tanks, etc.
  2. Rustoleum Chrome Bright Coat Spray Paint gives very good results. CA glue accelerator will discolor it, but it can be painted over.
  3. Building an interactive gaming table with effects like movement, light and smoke.
  4. For modeling purposes, it's OK to tweak Luftwaffe RLM colors. Make paint sample sheets and compare color combinations before painting the kit.
  5. Don't paint when it's cold.
  6. There is a convincing way to mount a helicopter in flight inside a clear plastic box.
  7. Tamiya putty thinned with Mr. Color leveling thinner has been used to prep 3D printed pieces.
  8. Miniatur Wunderland, Hamburg.

No wonder we ran out of time. Next meeting is 1/4/21 at 8 pm. Invites to follow. Hope to see you there.
