Reminder BPMS 9/22/26 Zoom Mini-meeting featured topic - the dark side

Last time, it was the joy of building models. This time, it's what gets you frustrated. For instance, have you ever built a model so bad that it wound up in the trash?

Thirteen people attended. We recapped the 9/18/26 in-person meeting for those who weren't there. Photos of the Big Model theme display are on the club's Facebook page.

Want five extra tickets for the November Super Raffle? Just finish your pledge model and bring it to the October in-person meeting.

Lou wasn't at the meeting, but he messaged that Atlantis' Japanese I-19 submarine and Hobby Boss's 1/48 USN A-4B were available.

The 2026 Holiday Dinner will be Saturday,12/5/26 at Wheeler's, in Brooklyn, same place as last year. Details to follow.

Mark shared photos of the aircraft model display at Marquette -Sawyer Regional Airport in Michigan.

Vaughn and Simon discussed the design evolution of the B-26 and Vaughn "thanked" Gil for the 1/72 Ilya Muromets kit.

We saw Erasmo's Breguet Alize, Vaughn's B-26 and A-5 (with paper tube intakes), Mark's Chaffee, Kevin's Inga bust (an OSL painting exercise), Gil's 1/10 remote control Lost in Space Chariot and Frank C's C-5, F-18 and English Electric Lightning.

This week's tool was a set of Tamiya's Fine Craft Saws (stainless-steel photo etch saw blades). There are four blade shapes, all are1mm thick and very flexible.

What are the things that aggravate and stress us when we build? Kits that are unnecessarily complicated, with too many tiny parts and subassemblies. Kits that are just plain poorly molded. Aircraft with control surfaces molded the wrong configuration. Boxes with more loose parts in them than parts on a sprue. Airbrushing. Searching for lost parts. Finding those parts after you finish the model. Realizing too late that the assembly sequence was important. Deciding which aftermarket items you really need. A few guys admitted tossing a kit on occasion, but most take a cryogenic approach and store the kit until its problems can be fixed. Did we miss your pet peeve?

The next meeting is Tuesday,9/29/26 at 7:30 pm. Invites to follow. Hope to see you there.
